Need to dump my domain host and just point to IP addresses - dns

I bought my domain with a hosting company but I no longer need the hosting space. I am just redirecting my domain to my github pages. I did that with the admin panel my host provided.
I would like to quit paying the hosting company but continue having the domain point to github. How is this done?

You need to transfer your domain to a domain host like Namecheap or Godaddy. They will charge you just about $11 (based on the domain extension) to keep just your domain per year.

Working with godaddy and third party and IIS DNS

Hi I am hoping someone can help me with this question, as apparently the chat agent on godaddy couldn't.
I have a DNS for domain A registered with godaddy.
I have a number of sites running from my home pc which unfortunately uses dynamic IP, so I lose these sites everytime my ISP updates the IP address.
I have a no-ip service for Domain B which points directly to my home computer as is always maintained. All of the sites I use with no-ip service are always pointing to the correct place.
Is there a way I can point my godaddy domains (Domain A) to my no-ip domain (Domain B) whilst keeping the original url? I'm thinking its domain forwarding or something to do with NameServers, but this is an area in which I have zero knowledge.
Thanks in advance

I've bought a domain name from namecheap and I host my website from my own PC, how to associate domain name to ip?

I'm trying to map my ip to the domain name I bought but little did I know, it's more confusing than I thought it would be. Where exactly does the link between the IP and the domain name happens? Does it have something to do with nameservers or domain redirections?
You will need to update your DNS settings and point to the IP you want.
The company / website your domain is registered with will be able to help here / allow you to do this online.
be aware that a lot of residential addresses will have dynamic IP addresses which may change frequently causing you to need to update the DNS a lot.
Id recommend looking at a free web host (freehostia.com for example) if you are able to host your website / server online

Link a shared webhosting to an external domain

I'm confusing on something!
If I map a domain with 1&1 with a shedhosting with bluehost. Do this means that I can manage my domain from bluehost ?
in other words can I manage my domain with 1a1 (emails, subdomains...) from my bluehost without transferring it.
Thanks,
Of course you can. By the default, your domain nameservers will use registrar nameservers, in your case 1&1 service. Simply login to your 1&1 account, then change your domain nameservers to bluehost nameservers. You can find your hosting nameservers in your hosting cPanel (I assume that bluehost use cPanel). Or, if you find a trouble finding the nameservers, simply contact bluehost customer service.
After change the nameservers, then check it first to make sure the changes was take effect, use http://who.is service. Then go to your bluehost cPanel, you can manage domain name directly from there, add/remove subdomain, change dns record (A Record, CNAME, etc..) and also your mail will functioned (I assume that bluehost give you an email hosting service in your hosting package).
NOTE: You don't need to transfer your domain to bluehost, you can have your domain registrar different from your hosting provider. The only thing you need to do just pointing nameservers to your hosting nameservers.
REMEMBER: All your domain record in 1&1 account will not functioned, you need to move it to your bluehost cPanel. All A Record, CNAME, etc in your 1&1 panel must be re-written in your bluehost cPanel.
I use this method right now, and everything is ok!

why my name server can not point to the right ip address?

I'm totally new about hosting website and I register a domain in network solution and hosted by hostgator. I tried to register my name server by going to Domain name server option in network solution and enter my name sever's name. However,by going to leafdns.com, I found out that the name servers don't pointing to the right ip addresses as provided by hostgator welcome email. Besides, network solution does not prompt you for a ip input for those name servers, and the domain still point to a construction page.
What would be the problem?
It's not enaught to set up Name Servers for domain, you need add records in it. If you setup hostgator hosting NameServers for your domain, just park your domain on hosting panel and NS records add apear automatically.

how to point a domain name to free webhost server using dns

I am using free webhosting server. and i purchased a domain name. now how to point a domain name to free webhost?.
ex. my webserver address is abc.uco.im,
and my purchased domain name is xyz.com.
now how to point xyz.com to abc.uco.im using dns. please help, thank you.
The best place to resolve these questions is with your web host, and with the entity where you purchased the domain name. Specific instructions will vary according to those host services you choose.
You need to go in your File Zone DNS and add a A host that point to the ip of your web server.
It will be like :
Host : #
Point : abc.uco.im
use webforwarding option in your purchased domain console . Go webforwading just enter your free host domain url there. Hence any one trying your new domain will automatically forwaded to your free domain address.
