I'm using this manual to create ok/cancel modal dialog box in my Blackberry 10 application.
I defined dialog in QML and called .show() method. The dialog works well, but it always uses bright(white) theme. Even if current theme set to dark and all other controls are dark - the dialog is always white.
Is there any way to make the dialog work as all others controls in application.
Here my QML fragment with dialog:
SystemDialog {
id: interruptDialog
title: qsTr("title")
body: qsTr("Do you really want to do this?")
onFinished: {
someAction();
}
}
SystemDialog can't be themed. You'd have to make your own custom dialog if you want to change the look.

Even on a Q10 device, where the OS-wide theme is dark, a SystemDialog would still show with a blue header and white body.

A SystemDialog is a dialog box that is standardized across all applications. These dialog boxes have a predefined look and feel for BlackBerry 10.

I have on Linux/KDE a installed version of eclipse Mars.2. But there are strong problems with colors. So there is no different between a activated toolbar button and a inactive toolbar button. At example the "Link with editor" button of the "Project Explorer" view has exactly the same background color if the button is selected or not:
Another thing is that I cannot see if a checkbox or radio button is selected or not. It seems that the foreground color for the check/radio box selections is also identical to the background color. So there is in many configuration views no way to find out what's currently selected and wath's not. In the next screenshot at least one of the "Open mode" radio button must be selected (I assume it's "Double click" button):
Note also that the colors are only in eclipse wrong. In other (native) KDE applications I don't have these effects (at example the foreground of check boxes/radio buttons are black - like I have it expected). Also play around with the color settings in KDE "Application Appearance" has no effects ...
How can I change the colors of these stuff?
There is an Eclipse plugin that helps you import downloaded themes from the online marketplace (themes are free).
This is where you can find it: http://eclipsecolorthemes.org/
You may choose whatever eclipse theme fits your needs!
Good luch!
Ok. Found the solution for my problem on following site:
http://www.jroller.com/andyl/entry/mars_on_linux
Mars is the first eclipse version which uses GTK3 (instead of GTK2 like eclipse versions before 4.5). And on the side above Andrey Loskutov wrotes that may be also the GTK theme (widget style) can be also the problem. The Widget style "oxygen-gtk" should be extremly buggy! After changing the widget style (to now "Adwaida") the problems are gone :-)
You can change the Widget style in KDE by opening in the KDE settings: "Application Appearance" and "GTK+ Appearance".
I'm building my first Universal Windows Platform (UWP) App and am trying to implement the popular "Hamburger Menu" using the SplitView class.
Inspired by many samples, the items hosted on the SplitView pane are re-styled RadioButton controls, with a vertical highlight-rectangle, an icon and a text. The appearance is similar to that of the Groove app.
I'm now trying to implement navigation and selection using the keyboard, and this now bring a little focus-rect around the items in the SplitView pane. However, since the pane clips its contents when its DisplayMode is either CompactInline or CompactOverlay, the focus rectangle is also clipped, which is not the behavior a user would expect.
Please, can anyone advise on how to property display the focus rectangle in this situation ?
Just an idea, what if you set the width of all radio button's to be same as the CompactPaneLength property of SplitView. The default is 48 DIPs.
I'm looking at different variations of login screens which have material design elements.
I found the Inbox app quite interesting.
The toolbar (action bar) appears to be mid screen. And the (action bar) snaps up to the right position when editing text.
Questions:
Is this a standard behaviour across 5.0?
How do they achieve this?
The UI element you are seeing on the top, playing the role of an ActionBar is actually the Toolbar widget.
A Toolbar is a generalization of action bars for use within application layouts. While an action bar is traditionally part of an Activity's opaque window decor controlled by the framework, a Toolbar may be placed at any arbitrary level of nesting within a view hierarchy. An application may choose to designate a Toolbar as the action bar for an Activity using the setActionBar() method.
You can have multiple toolbars in an Activity. The toolbars can have different heights. The standard height of the toolbar in portrait is 56dp.
Update:
Default height:
Mobile Landscape: 48dp
Mobile Portrait: 56dp
Tablet/Desktop: 64dp
For extended app bars, the height is equal to the default height plus content increment(s).
You can read more from the Material design specification.
For implementing it you just set the layout_height attribute in the layout file. Of course extracting the number as a dimension resource is always a good idea.
Alright, I'm using VS2012 with MFC in Windows 8 and I'm having a problem.
Let's say I have a very simple dialog in my application. When I click on a different window (for example on the Taskbar), the caption bar color indicates that the dialog is still focused!
This problem happens in several cases. For example, when I use CFileDialog to select some files, after closing the dialog, caption bar color indicates that the dialog is still inactive while it's automatically focused after closing the open dialog!
Now let's say I have two dialogs in my application. Dialog A is my primary dialog and I use a button to show modal dialog B. In standard applications, if I click on dialog A, dialog B caption bar flashes. This doesn't happen in my application and I think it's because of a bug in MFC.
Any ideas how to fix this problem?
I got a menu in an existing MFC application that has a standard MFC main menu.
But I would like to change its background colour so that it appears to more seamlessly belong to the rest of the application.
First picture: An MFC main menu. The application is skinned blue, as seen in the toolbar, but the menu is still standard grey background colour.
Second Picture: Spotify's menu, skinned to fit into the rest of the
colors.
I have not found any examples on anything similar. Could you please point me towards how to achieve this?
Approaches I thought of:
Subclassing CMenu to my own SkinnedMenu, but it is not created by our code but by a GetMenu() call in a mainframe class deriving from CFrameWnd. The only thing I can find here is its method signature, defined in afxwin.h so then how could I make use my own subclassed menu?
Removing the entire menu and add my own custom menu buttons, in a row, making it look like a menu. Maybe this is what spotify have done, as they have also removed the Windows window frame.
Editing the existing CMenu in some way, but the only customization I am able to find right now is modifying its MENUINFO. For example if I set info.hbrBack = skin.GetSysColorBrush(COLOR_MENU) the only colour that changes is the background of the dropdown, not the main menu itself.
Other :)
