I have created a file upload function which saves all the uploads to a certain place:

Is this a good place to store it? Should I store it some where else?
Is it possible that once the upload is complete for a page to be displayed showing the user what they have just uploaded, like a box below showing a preview? And how would I go about doing this? I am new.
I have figured it out how to display a plain txt file and an image, however it is the pdf that is confusing me.
As to the upload location, which seems to be the IDE project folder, that's absolutely not right. You should choose a configureable and fixed location somewhere outside the IDE project folder. You should not rely on using getRealPath() or relative paths in java.io.File. It would make your webapp unportable. Whatever way you choose based on the information provided in the answer of the aforementioned question (and all links therein), you should ultimately end up having a valid URL pointing to the PDF file in question such as http://example.com/files/some.pdf.
Then, you can serve the PDF file on a webpage using either an <iframe>:
<iframe src="/files/some.pdf" width="600" height="400"></iframe>
Or an <object>:
<object data="/files/some.pdf" type="application/pdf" width="600" height="400">
some.pdf <!-- This link will only show up when the browser doesn't support showing PDF. -->

Keep in mind that showing PDFs in a browser is only supported in browsers having Adobe Reader plugin. Note that the <object> approach will gracefully degrade to a link when the browser doesn't support displaying application/pdf content.

Using 2sxc on DNN, I have a website that uses SVGs for icons in content types. The client wants to be able to upload the SVG icons to 2sxc via a Link field but then instead of rendering <img src="#Content.SVG" />, they want it to render the source code of the SVG (so we could manipulate the fill color via CSS). Is this even possible and how could it be done?
Basically 2 steps
Get the real file name using 2sxc and DNN

And that is called from above, see ~line 71, so they are doing a real inject of the file contents to inline. Obviously caching file-access stuff should be a priority for caching if the website is high-traffic, but otherwise it is not needed or at least secondary.
I am creating an ASP.NET web application. In one of my webpages (an ASCX control) I am placing a fusion chart inside a <div> tag. I want to provide an option for the client to download this fusion chart.
Is there any way that I can download

I can confirm that it is not possible to 'Export the chart as image' when using FusionCharts Free. However, as mentioned by Larsenal, you will be able to use FusionCharts v3.2.1 and it's updated JavaScript API to export pure JavaScript charts to JPEG, PNG, PDF, SVG formats.

It is currently not possible to generate an image from a section of a webpage with JavaScript. Quoting myself from another question:
Firefox added something similar to
this to their canvas implementation.

Sorry, there's no way to do it with Javascript.
I don't know about the Fusion controls, but some graphing libraries include a way to render to an image or PDF. Start looking there, not Javascript.
Update: FusionCharts claims to have the ability to export to JPG, PNG, PDF and CSV. Start with this page about exporting pure JS charts in their documentation.
I am using CKEditor with Drupal 6.19. I have tried my installation with both CKFinder and IMCE. When an image is inserted from the image browser into the Image Properties window, CKEditor gets a url similar to:
/sites/example.com/files/images/my_image.jpg
I want CKEditor to simply have:
/files/images/my_image.jpg
file structure of my site is this:
/sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckeditor
/sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckfinder
/sites/all/modules/imce
/sites/example.com/files/images/my_mages.jpg
Is this url passed from the file browser, or a default in CKEditor?
If it is CKEditor, where do I find the code to change this, or is it even possible?
The URL suggested /sites/example.com/files/images/my_image.jpg is the correct path. Thats because all files are uploaded to the /sites/example.com/files/ folder. The behavior is correct and should not be modified. (Unless I've not understood your problem correctly or there is a very good reason why you want to store your images under DRUPAL_ROOT/files/images)
We have a SharePoint Document library, where we store html files with links to external files. Samples:
mypicture.jpg.html
mywordfile.docx.html
mypdffile.pdf.html
and so on. Now by default all Files show up with the HTML Icon, referenced in the DOCICON.XML file. Thats of course correct as the .html extension shows, it is a HTML file. But we want the files to have different icons, based on their original file type.
Is there a way to automatically change the Icon
during rendering or
when we save the file to the library (via SharePoint API)?

Why not use a little jquery to change the icon during rendering? Each doc in your library should be contained in
<td class="ms-vb-icon"><a tabindex=...><img ... src="/_layouts/images/ichtm.gif"></a></td>
I think you can slurp that into an array, assign a new var that's just the href stripped of path/filename. and .html, and use that to replace htm in the src tag.
Could you not just edit the DOCICON.xml to add the ".jpg.html" and ".docx.html" extensions in?
For a full listing of icon files see all "ic*.gif" files in the TEMPLATE\IMAGES directory under the 12 hive. Unfortunately, this will not solve your problem, but this is where you can change it based on the extension, if you so choose.
