I have several rows in my InfoPath form initially arranged in a table. Afterwhich, I've a repeating section consisting of a single row for the user to enter data row-wise in a repeated fashion. Each row needs indexing, the index starting from the index of the last row in the previous table.
There is no "Expression box" control available in InfoPath 2010 for auto-incrementing as stated by multiple other sources on the web.
I do not need the form to be numbered after submission. I want the ROWS to be auto-numbered while the user enters values under the repeating section while filling the form in the browser.
Is there a way or any work around to this problem? Or, is there any formula that can be used?
I can be done using the count function, example:
count(../preceding-sibling::*) + 1
You will need to have a field in your repeating group for the ID, then go to that field's properties and set it's default value to that function using the formula button. You'll then have to edit xpath values to set the value to that function call.
Note: I am using InfoPath 2007, so I am not 100% sure this applies to InfoPath 2010
I was looking for something simlilar, except I simply wanted my repeating sections to show a number.
The answer from #firestream almost worked for me, except for some reason, the first section was not being set. They were numbered as "blank, 2, 3, 4, ..." Also, I didn't need the number to be persistent in the data source, and didn't want the extra field.
I simply created an Expression Box control, and set the XPath to count(preceding-sibling::*)+1

I have a SharePoint List (say "List-A") with plenty of columns, some of which are lookup columns.
These are just used to construct a choice columns, where the items in the choice drop down are the items of a column in a different List ("List-B").
I have used the function on SharePoint to integrate List-A with Power Apps Form. This creates a Power Apps form that is readily available.
For the Lookup choice columns, I have added List-B as the data source, and am using the items from the correct column as items in the choice that is linked to the lookup column. This correctly populates the drop down menu as expected.
Now when I publish this form and fill it from sharepoint (it pops up as it should hafter clicking New in the List view) I can fill the entire form and submit with no issue. However all the lookup columns remain blank, as if the form returned a null value instead of the selected.
I have both datasources set up:
The update property of the datacard connecting to the SharePoint List is equal to the Selected of the datacard containing the combobox (combobox is called DataCardValue43).
The items property of the combobox is equal to the correct column of List-B.
As an alternative solution, I have attempted to make a different column that is just one line of text. For this column, I have made a combobox once again setting the items property to the column in List-B. The intention was to return the selected value as a string. It was attempted thus:
where combobox1 once again manages to give the correct options in the drop down box but returns only Null.
To study it further, I have made a power apps flow that takes Create New Sharepoint List object as input. Here I see that the values are indeed Null
The one called "Return" is the text column that I made, and the other being the lookup column. I do notice that the Lookup column isn't called Value, but id. I don't know what to do with that information though.
I really just want to have a column in my power apps form that lets you choose and the choices are values from a column in a different List. What do I do, and why doesn't what I've already done work?

Please follow the steps below to solve the issue.
1: Add a Lookup column in SharePoint List.
2: Open that list in Power Apps by using the Customise Forms Option From SharePoint.
3: The Item property of Lookup field will be by default as follow:
Choices([#'CustomisingSharePointList'].LookupColumnListName)
4: There is no need to change/delete the lookup field with any custom dropdown or combo box. This is the point, where you are doing mistake by adding a custom combobox and replacing the original Lookup dropdown. If you want to change datasource, apply filter or sort the data, you can do all these thing to the same original lookup column.
e.g I have applied filter and sort functions to the existing data:
Sort(Filter(Choices([#'CustomisingSharePointList'].'LookupColumnListName'), Value in Filter(LookupColumnListDataSoure,Progress.Value = "Open").ID),Id)
5: When you will publish the list, it will work fine.
Note:
CustomisingSharePointList: List in which we have added a lookup column.
LookupColumnListName: List to which the lookup column actually belongs to.
LookupColumnListDataSoure: You need to add the original list as data source in power apps to use the above filter. This step is optional and applicable only if you apply filter like I did in step 4
I need to include two list values, [Office] and [Position ID] in a three-state workflow Task Title, which only allows selecting one column via dropdown. SharePoint Designer is not an option. Office is a choice column, while Position ID is single line of text. So, I had the idea to combine the two columns into a calculated column. This works fine for views, and displays as expected. However, when included as a list field in the Task Title of a three-state workflow, SharePoint prepends string;# to the calculated column value. Is there any way to prevent or workaround this? I have tried various concatenation methods within the calculated column formula, but it does not seem to have any effect on the workflow notifications. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a way in Excel to create DropLists that display 2 columns intead of 1?
I know this can be done in VBA via a Form, but I do not want this file to be macro-enabled and even less to have to resort to a Form; I want the list to be in a cell and to have a whole column with these lists (like a column-wide Data Validation).
Assuming this is impossible, here's the workaround I implemented: I created a third column being a join/concat of the other two, so that my DropList shows both column info at the same time.
The small drawback is that when processing the selected value, I need to get only the part I need.
For instance, if my columns are "ID" and "Name", I display "Name [ID]" in the list, and when I retrieve the selected list value to process it in a formula, I get the text between [square brackets] so that I can use the unique identifier while allowing the user to choose a meaningful name in the list instead of an ID they know nothing about.
I have a calculated column in SharePoint On-Premises that shows the number of days till a due date which works perfectly for a day or so then stops calculating, but if I go to the list settings and click the column and click ok then it calculates again?
Has anyone experienced an issue similar to this. I had this issue in both 2013 but within a few weeks moved to 2016 and still the same issue.
I've tried " " blank and also "" empty so not sure if that is causing the issue??

Calculated columns cannot contain volatile functions, which includes those that depend on the current date.
The values in SharePoint columns--even in calculated columns--are stored in SharePoint's underlying SQL Server database.
The calculations in calculated columns are not performed upon page load; rather, they are recalculated only whenever an item is changed (in which case the formula is recalculated just for that specific item), or whenever the column formula is changed (in which case the formula is recalculated for all items).
If you need to show a dynamic value that changes with the passage of time, you have a few alternatives.
Client-Side Rendering
Consider using client-side rendering which lets you use JavaScript to dynamically determine how records in a list view are displayed. This JavaScript runs upon page load, so it can handle current time-dependent values much better than a calculated column.
To use client-side rendering, you create a JavaScript file that controls how the view displays. You upload that file to somewhere on SharePoint where people will have at least Read access to it, then edit the list view web part that you want to display differently and set its "JSLink" property to point to your JavaScript file.
Check out this answer for an example of using a JSLink file to spoof a dynamic date field.
Microsoft also provides some documentation here but I think they do more work than is necessary (creating an entire new list definition project in Visual Studio for their example instead of just creating a JSLink JavaScript file for an existing list).
Other Options
A few other options are mentioned in the older question linked above:
Conditional Formatting: You can apply conditional formatting to highlight records that meet certain criteria. This can be done using SharePoint Designer or HTML/JavaScript.
Filtered List views: Since views of lists are queried and generated in real time, you can use volatile values in list view filters. You can set up a list view web part that only shows items where Created is equal to [Today]. Since you can place multiple list view web parts on one page, you could have one section for today's items, and another web part for all the other items, giving you a visual separation.
A workflow, timer job, or scheduled task: You can use a repeating process to set the value of a normal (non-calculated) column on a daily basis. You need to be careful with this approach to ensure good performance; you wouldn't want it to query for and update every item in the list if the list has surpassed the list view threshold, for example.
To expand on the Filtered List Views option, you can have a view that shows only items that are due within a certain number of days. For example, you can display all the items due within 7 days by filtering where the Due Date field is less than [Today]+7 and Due Date is greater than or equal to [Today]. You could also sort the view to show the items with earlier due dates closer to the top.
Any one has any idea how to map an infopath field to a sharepoint column of type choice? The infopath field is a repeating field, so the user can select multiple options, I want to be able to map those to the choice field in sharepoint. Any ideas?

What I'm trying to do is the following. I have a choice column in sharepoint which allows user entered values. In infopath, I have a repeating field. I'm binding the field to a dropdownlist. The dropdownlist gets filled by a webservice. This dropdownlist is in a repeating section, so the user can choose to select from multiple dropdownlists. So lets say the user adds 2 dropdownlists, and selects an option from each dropdownlist. I want to be able to add those selections as choices in the sharepoint choice column.
SharePoint list is a flat structure, and because of that Infopath does not allow you map repeating sections to list columns.
You might wanna consider the following workaround:
Store Infopath form to one library
(along with non-repeating fields)
Use one of these custom activities to extract data from
repeating table and copy it to
another list
Create a custom data view or a web part to display these items (if
necessary)
This approach can be useful if you need to do some additional tasks with the repeating data.
When you are promoting fields within a repeated section into SharePoint columns, the options available are to promote the column as:
first (i.e. only the first selection is promoted)
last
count
merge (I believe this merges all the selected values together into a single entry)

Depends on the type of choice field it is.
If it is a Multiple Select (checkboxes) Choice field, you can set the field through the object model (from the sharepoint site) or through the web service, by using ";#" for each item that you want to check mark, where is the value which is listed by the checkbox. I don't remember what the option is for single choice only, but it is something of the same nature. If you are talking about lookup fields, it has to do with the index number of the field from the list you are looking it up from. Also, there is additional steps if the choice field allows users to input or specify their own options.
