Trying to pass checkbox list enum value to my view - string

Just trying to do some quick and dirty testing. I am passing fake data through my controller to a view just to see how the UI looks.
In my controller which I set up just to "test" this I have, for example:
MyViewModel = new MyViewModel
{
MyModel= new Models.MyModel
{
FirstName = "Homer", //This works
SomeDecimal = 10000, //This works
SomeRadioButton = Models.MyModel.Enum.Selection, //This works
SomeCheckBox = Models.MyModel.OtherEnum.OtherSelection, //This doesn't
}
}
I am getting the Cannot implicitly convert type ... to 'System.Collections.Generic.List<string>' error.
My radio buttons and check boxes share similar convention for using enums, but the checkbox uses public List<string> SomeCheckBox { get; set; } whereas radio buttons use public Enum? SomeRadioButton { get; set; }
Please note, I am not using a testing framework. I am just trying to figure out quickly how to pass some fake data to see how the UI is shaping up. Can anyone share a sample of how to accomplish what I want (to pass a checkbox value so my UI can show data that would have been selected by a user)?
The other problem I forsee is in passing more than one selection from the checkbox, but once I get the code down I think I should be able to figure that out.
Thanks.

Your error message makes total sense. Try this
var testViewModel = new TestViewModel
{
SomeCheckBox = new List<string> {TestViewModel.RadioButtonValues.Value1.ToString() }
};

Including default Vendor Inventory ID on Multiple Grids

I've been tasked with adding the default vendor inventory ID to grids in multiple screens in Acumatica. The field does not need to be bound and is disabled. I've gotten it as far as showing the field correctly, but only on saved records. Adding a new line and even refreshing the grid will not display the ID, I have to close the screen or switch to another record and come back before the vendor ID will display, even clicking the save button and refreshing will not cause it show. The client is using this field as a reference point so it's important it shows as soon as they select an item.
Below is the code I have for the Kit Specification screen, I need to figure out a way to make it a little more reactive, at least show properly on a refresh. I have tried using Current<> in the where statement, but that just breaks it entirely and always shows nothing.
public class INKitSpecStkDetExt : PXCacheExtension<PX.Objects.IN.INKitSpecStkDet>
{
#region VendorInventoryCode
public abstract class vendorInventoryCode: IBqlField { }
[PXDBScalar(typeof(Search2<PO.POVendorInventory.vendorInventoryID,
InnerJoin<IN.InventoryItem,
On<PO.POVendorInventory.vendorID, Equal<IN.InventoryItem.preferredVendorID>, And<PO.POVendorInventory.inventoryID, Equal<IN.InventoryItem.inventoryID>>>>,
Where<IN.InventoryItem.inventoryID,Equal<IN.INKitSpecStkDet.compInventoryID>>,
OrderBy<Desc<PO.POVendorInventory.vendorInventoryID>>>))]
[PXString(40, IsUnicode = true)]
[PXUIField(DisplayName = "Vendor Inventory Code", Enabled=false)]
public string VendorInventoryCode{ get; set; }
#endregion
}
Once I have the code nailed down it will be used in several other places. Help very much appreciated! Frustrating to have it so close and not be able to cross the finish line...
Follow up based on feedback from HB_Acumatica, working code is below for reference:
public void INKitSpecStkDet_VendorInventoryCode_FieldSelecting(PXCache sender, PXFieldSelectingEventArgs e)
{
var row = e.Row as INKitSpecStkDet;
if (e.Row != null)
{
PO.POVendorInventory vendorInventory = PXSelectReadonly2<PO.POVendorInventory,
InnerJoin<IN.InventoryItem,
On<PO.POVendorInventory.vendorID, Equal<IN.InventoryItem.preferredVendorID>, And<PO.POVendorInventory.inventoryID, Equal<IN.InventoryItem.inventoryID>>>>,
Where<IN.InventoryItem.inventoryID, Equal<Required<IN.INKitSpecStkDet.compInventoryID>>>,
OrderBy<Desc<PO.POVendorInventory.vendorInventoryID>>>.Select(Base, row.CompInventoryID);
e.ReturnValue = vendorInventory != null ? vendorInventory.VendorInventoryID : null;
}
}
PXDBScalar attribute doesn't refresh by itself. Maybe explicitly calling RaiseFieldDefaulting method will refresh it:
object newValue = null;
base.Caches[typeof(INKitSpecStkDet)].RaiseFieldDefaulting<INKitSpecStkDetExt.vendorInventoryCode>(rowINKitSpecStkDet, out newValue);
Using PXFormula instead of PXDBScalar if possible will yield better automatic refresh behavior but has it's own set of limitation as well.
If you're looking for the simplest way that works in most contexts (except when no graph is used like in reports and generic inquiry) that would be the FieldSelecting event.
You can execute BQL and return any desired value from the event. It will be called each time the field is referenced so it should update by itself.
public void INKitSpecStkDet_VendorInventoryCode_FieldSelecting(PXCache sender, PXFieldSelectingEventArgs e)
{
PO.POVendorInventory vendorInventory = PXSelectReadonly2<Po.POVendorInventory […]>.Select(Base);
e.ReturnValue = vendorInventory != null ? vendorInventory.VendorInventoryCode : null;
}

Customs binding cross views in mvvmcross

I need a custom binding and I know when and where but I don't know how I can do it. This is the relation of the view in my custom binding. Think about the *Views like controls.
I have the connections from ViewModel->ContainerView->FirstView but I can't connect it with the TableView. To connect the ContainerView to FirstView I did a custom binding (in one direction for now). And in the setvalue method I call the firstview's method SetBinding (where I want to do the binding)
I tried a few option but nothing happens, the last one looks like this:
public GolferList CurrentGolferList { get; set; }
public void SetBinding(GolferList golferList){
this.CurrentGolferList = golferList;
TableSource = new TableSourcePlayers(TableViewPlayers);
var bindingDescription = new[]{
new MvxBindingDescription {TargetName = "ItemsSource",SourcePropertyPath = "CurrentGolferList"} ,
};
Binder.Bind(this,TableSource, bindingDescription);
TableViewPlayers.Source = TableSource;
TableViewPlayers.ReloadData();
}
I would be grateful if you could tell me another way to handle it.
Update:
I followed Stuart's link and now it works fine, thanks a lot Stuart!
Actually, in my scheme the TableView is a MvxSimpleBindableTableViewSource and I want to bind the data there. So in order to make it work, I used the code below (SetBinding needs some external refactor):
private List<IMvxUpdateableBinding> bindings;
private string BindingText = "{'ItemsSource':{'Path':'CurrentGolfers'}}";
public object DataContext {
get { return dataContext; }
set { dataContext = value;
if (bindings == null)
bindings = this.GetService<IMvxBinder>().Bind(dataContext, TableSource, BindingText).ToList();
else
bindings.ForEach(b => b.DataContext = dataContext);
}
}
public void SetBinding(GolferList golferList){
this.DataContext = PlayViewModel;
tableView.Source = TableSource;
tableView.ReloadData();
}
Note that BindingText points to the table, not to the view itself.
Update 2
Now in V3 it's a bit different. First, the view must implement IMvxBindable and this members:
public object DataContext
{
get { return BindingContext.DataContext; }
set { BindingContext.DataContext = value; }
}
public IMvxBindingContext BindingContext { get; set; }
(Don't forget dispose calling BindingContext.ClearAllBindings() and also call to CreateBindingContext() in the viewload )
And then you'll be able to bind in your class. In my case:
var set = this.CreateBindingSet<FirstPlayViewController, PlayViewModel>();
set.Bind(source).To(vm => vm.CurrentGolfers).Apply(); //I love the new fluent api :)
I think what you want to do is actual a data-bound View, rather than a custom binding.
This is covered in this question - Custom bindable control in a MvvmCross Touch project
Basically what you need to do is to add a collection of 'Bindings' and the 'DataContext' property to your FirstView.
If you do that then you should be able to databind (to DataContext) within FirstView just like you do within any normal MvvmCross view.
Note - this will be much easier to do in v3 as we've added a 'BindingContext' object to assist with exactly this type of operation

Saving Monotouch.Dialog element values to a file

I'm using MonoTouch for developing my iPhone application. I want to use Monotouch. Dialog for showing some data to a client and let them change data and then save them to the file again.
My code is something like the code of Xamarin tutorials:
(Orginal Sample link)
public enum Category
{
Travel,
Lodging,
Books
}
public class ExpesObject{
public string name;
}
public class Expense
{
[Section("Expense Entry")]
[Entry("Enter expense name")]
public string Name;
[Section("Expense Details")]
[Caption("Description")]
[Entry]
public string Details;
[Checkbox]
public bool IsApproved = true;
[Caption("Category")]
public Category ExpenseCategory;
}
It is representing the TableView so good.
But the question is this, how we can save the data of this elements and the use them in other class of application? What is the best way for doing this?
I guess that we can save data to a file when user changed them. but how we can detect when the user change the data?
In the example you have shown, you are using the simple Reflection API for Monotouch.Dialog. While this is nice and easy, it really limits what you can do. I would suggest learning to use the Elements API seen here (http://docs.xamarin.com/guides/ios/user_interface/monotouch.dialog/elements_api_walkthrough) of Monotouch.Dialog which will give you so much more control over each item in the table, and be able to detect the changes, etc.
Each of the table cells (e.g. Name is a cell, which you can edit) have actions/events for when certain things happen, like text being changed.
For example, the above screen can be made with the elements API doing the following.
public class ExpenseViewController : DialogViewController
{
EntryElement nameEntry;
public ExpenseViewController() : base(null, true)
{
Root = CreateRootElement();
// Here is where you can handle text changing
nameEntry.Changed += (sender, e) => {
SaveEntryData(); // Make your own method of saving info.
};
}
void CreateRootElement(){
return new RootElement("Expense Form"){
new Section("Expense Entry"){
(nameEntry = new EntryElement("Name", "Enter expense name", "", false))
},
new Section("Expense Details"){
new EntryElement("Description", "", "", false),
new BooleanElement("Approved", false, ""),
new RootElement("Category", new Group("Categories")){
new CheckboxElement("Travel", true, "Categories"),
new CheckboxElement("Personal", false, "Categories"),
new CheckboxElement("Other", false, "Categories")
}
}
};
}
void SaveEntryData(){
// Implement some method for saving data. e.g. to file, or to a SQLite database.
}
}

ContentManager.Create does nothing

I am trying to build a service in Orchard that allows me to create content through a custom form on a page. The service and the content type definitions look fine to me, but somehow, eventhough I don't get any errors or other signs in the Orchard log files, creating new content using the IContentManager does nothing for me.
Parts involved
The controller accepting the form values
[HttpPost]
public ActionResult Create(CreateSopViewModel viewModel)
{
if(!ModelState.IsValid)
{
var shape = _shape.CreateContent();
shape.Header = _shape.Parts_Title(Title: "New item");
// Add the original fields to the shape.
shape.Title = viewModel.Title;
shape.Description = viewModel.Description;
shape.InitialComments = viewModel.InitialComments;
return new ShapeResult(this, shape);
}
// Store the new procedure in the database
_service.CreateContentItem(
viewModel.Title,viewModel.Description,viewModel.InitialComments);
// Redirect the user back to the homepage.
return Redirect("~/");
}
The service that contains the CreateContentItem method:
public void CreateContentItem(string title, string description, string initialComments)
{
// Initialize a new content item based on the SOP type
var customPart = _services.ContentManager.New<MyCustomPart>("CustomContentType");
customPart.Description = description;
customPart.Identifier = BuildIdentifier(title);
customPart.ContentItem.As<TitlePart>().Title = title;
_services.ContentManager.Create(customPart.ContentItem);
}
The content part + record
public class MyCustomPart: ContentPart<MyCustomPartRecord>
{
[Required]
public string Identifier
{
get { return Record.Identifier; }
set { Record.Identifier = value; }
}
[Required]
public string Description
{
get { return Record.Description; }
set { Record.Description = value; }
}
}
public class MyCustomPartRecord: ContentPartRecord
{
public virtual string Identifier { get; set; }
public virtual string Description { get; set; }
}
The migration
SchemaBuilder.CreateTable(typeof(MyCustomPartRecord).Name, table => table
.ContentPartRecord()
.Column<string>("Description")
.Column<string>("Identifier"));
ContentDefinitionManager.AlterPartDefinition("StandardOperationalProcedurePart", builder => builder
.Attachable(true));
ContentDefinitionManager.AlterTypeDefinition("CustomContentType", builder => builder
.DisplayedAs("Custom Content Type")
.WithPart("TitlePart")
.WithPart("MyCustomPart")
.Creatable(true));
Question
Again, I don't get any errors, not in the log and not in Visual Studio. However, my new content item doesn't get created or at least, I can't see it in the admin section of the site under Content.
What is going on and how can I debug this behavior?
I had a similar problem, which was solved when I used the overloaded Create method taking a VersionOptions enum value:
content.Create(customPart.ContentItem, VersionOptions.Published);
This should work even if the content item is not creatable, as mine isn't.
I had a similar issue. In my case the item did appear eventually, but not right away.
The solution for me was to do:
_contentManager.Flush();
I was having this issue, in my case it was that I actually had an error in the database (trying to put 100+ characters into a field that would only hold 100!).
I found the error I was getting (null id in Orchard.Indexing.Models.IndexingTaskRecord entry (don't flush the Session after an exception occurs) ), actually masked the issue. I had to go hunt in the logs to find the real problem.
So anyway, my advice is if you see that contentmanager.create seems to be doing nothing, and any errors don't seem to help, check the logs carefully. They can be found in the logs sub-folder of the appdata folder in the main Orchard.Web project. Because as I've found in the last 48 hours, often the answer is there.

ASP.NET MVC 4 Remember page index

In a ASP.NET MVC 4 app I have a view with a paged list (just a simple table, no telerik grid or anything like that). New values are fetched from the database when the user pages through the list.
On every row in that table there is an edit button, when clicking the button you are presented with an edit view and when you click save in that view you are redirected back to the view with the paged list.
The urls for the list view looks like this
http://localhost/Items/Page/1
http://localhost/Items/Page/2
The route looks like this
routes.MapRoute(
name: "ItemsList",
url :"Items/Page/{page}",
defaults: new { controller = "Items", action = "Index", page = 1 },
constraints: new {page = #"\d+"}
);
My question is this: what is the preferred, most common way to store away the referring url, so when done editing an item, I can redirect the user back to the correct url
http://localhost/Items/Page/2
and not just to
http://localhost/Items
I've tried splitting up
Request.UrlReferrer.PathAndQuery
and storing those values around, and then build the url from those values but I have a feeling there is a much better solution to this problem. Any suggestions?
Update
Right now I'm thinking that I could put the UrlReferrer.PathAndQuery (if there are any values) as a property on the view model for the edit screen and then use that when deciding on where to redirect after a save.
Any thoughts out there on that approach?
Here is my final solution to the problem, it's not super elegant but it works.
I added a property to the View model that could store the url. That value get's stored in a hidden field.
public class SkillEditModel
{
public int Id { get; set; }
public string Name { get; set; }
public string RedirectBackToUrl { get; set; }
}
In the controller Edit(GET) method I store the value with the view model
if (!Request.UrlReferrer == null)
{
model.RedirectBackToUrl = Request.UrlReferrer.PathAndQuery;
}
And finally after saving the changes in Edit (POST) I did this
if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(model.RedirectBackToUrl))
{
return new RedirectResult(model.RedirectBackToUrl);
}
return RedirectToAction("Index");
