I've just started to develope an LWUIT MIDlet with standard LWUITTheme.res. I added 2 commands (Exit, Search) on my first form, but they appear with no style (black on white).
Instead, other 2 commands (Back, Details) on a second form, showed on Search command click, are rendered styled in white on blue, with a blue gradient background.
The first form has a BorderLayout, the second has no particular layout set.
Since I haven't changed commands style in my code, I would expect that their appearance be the same in the first as in the second form, and precisely as they appear in the second form.
Am I wrong?

After #Bhakki first reply, regarding SoftButtons, I've checked the {$LWUIT_FOLDER}/LWUITDemo/src/LWUITTheme.res file.
As you can see, both Command and SoftButton has in the .res file.
It seems that the commands in the first form are styled as Command, and those in the second form are styled as SoftButton.
But I added them in the same way in both forms.
Am I doing something wrong?
You created the first form before installing the theme. You need to install the LWUIT theme before you create components but after Display.init().

I must have hit a setting in ST3 and caused my program to display results in a panel instead of in a buffer. How do I get it back so that find-text results go into their own tab? I've done some digging around but I can't find what I did.
In the Find in Files panel, there is a series of buttons to the left of the Find field, and the right most one of those is the one that controls whether the find results show up in a panel or in a buffer.
Note that the button may look different in your version as it appears that you're using a different theme (the image below shows the default theme). You can verify that you have the correct button based on the tool tip text.
I have a spinner with a custom background and I need to change the initially displayed text (the initial prompt) from black to white.

There are plenty of answers on SO and elsewhere on how to change the spinner ITEMS color using an adapter but nothing (that I can find) on how to change the initial text (the 'Android' in my example).
How do I change the color of the initial spinner prompt?
Blush ... Oops, I've just found out for myself. The answer is to replicate simple_spinner_item.xml and put it into the layout directory. I had done that but called it simple_spinner.xml, not simple_spinner_item.xml.
I am using LWUIT for series 40 for making my J2ME app and I have noticed a strange behavior of the LWUIT-Dialog while using the showPacked() method, the dialog being positioned with BorderLayout.CENTER.
This happens especially in touch phones.
I have attached an image in order to describe my situation.
Initially the dialog appears as shown in the first part of the image.However,it expands in the next few seconds to become like the one shown in the second part of the image.
Future calls to display the dialog using showPacked appears like the third one.I am clueless as to why this is happening.I want my dialog to appear like the one shown in the first half of the image all the time.Where have I gone wrong?
Note : The content of the Dialog is a an animated label.
I have no idea what the guys did there but I'm guessing they reflow the UI too aggressively. Try setting Dialog.setAutoAdjustDialogSize(false) and see if it solves your problem.
You can remove the title and background et al. with the code below, it makes only your animated GIF show with the dimmed dialog background :

I'm having a bit of trouble with custom action buttons in the honeycomb+ action bar. I'm adding a menu item that uses a custom layout (using the android:actionLayout attribute). The reason for the custom layout is that I want a button that has two lines of text that can be updated dynamically.
However, I still want this action button to operate like the other standard buttons. By this I mean that the background fades in when the button is selected, and fades out again if it is unselected, all in the style of the platform (the colour seems to differ between different platforms/devices - I've seen both grey and blue versions)
I've tried using the action button style for the custom layout:
style="#android:style/Widget.ActionButton"
and I've tried setting the background for the custom layout to:
android:background="?android:attr/actionBarItemBackground"
but to no avail, and I'm kind of trying things fairly randomly as I can't find any documentation on how to do this (or if indeed it is even possible).
I know I can approximate this behaviour myself by setting the background, but it would be nice if I could just set the item to behave like a normal action button in terms of how it appears when the user interacts with it.
Anyone have any ideas?

Ah, sorry to answer my own question but I have just stumbled upon a way to do this. I was halfway there - you need your custom layout's style to inherit from ActionButton:
#android:style/Widget.ActionButton
but then you also need to make the layout clickable:
android:clickable="true"
for it to work. Using both of these makes the custom action buttons look just like the regular ones when you press them.
Hopefully that'll help someone trying to do this!
Using LWUIT framework to develop mobile application.
In LWUIT by default first command is placed in the left and subsequent commands will be placed in the right menu of the form including the command which is already placed in form left.I need to add two menus to form.Left menu contains general application specific commands such as "Minimize","Back" and "Exit". Right Menu contains screen specific commands such as "Play Audio","Play Video" etc... Initially left softbutton of the form contains the text "Options" and the right softbutton of the form contains the text "Menu". When user selects "Options", a menu will be displayed with the following commands:
Minimize
Back
Exit
When user selects right soft button "Menu", a menu will be displayed with screen specific commands:
Play Audio
Play Video etc...
Commands of the right menu keeps changing from one form to another form, whereas the commands of left menu remains the same for all screens(forms). I know command menu can be customized by overriding "Form.createCommandList(Vector)" which returns a list. But here in my case I need two lists(menus). One at the left of the form and the other one at the right of the form.Please do help me in resolving this issue.
A LWUIT menu is just a dialog containing a List (or buttons for touch menu or pretty much anything you want), so to implement this just create a Command called options and place it in the left soft button. When options is pressed just show the dialog with your "additional commands". Since a List can accept a command array or vector doing something like this can be really easy.
You can look at the code for MenuBar which is pretty simple, you can also replace the menu bar component in the latest version LWUIT (SVN at the moment) but that seems redundant for this particular use case.
