Where does Visual C# 2010 Express keep it's temporary files? - visual-c#-express-2010

I worked on an application for a couple of days and saved files frequently with Ctrl+S. This morning I found out that my computer had force-restarted because of Windows security updates. Apparently Visual C# 2010 Express does not create a folder for project when the project is created. The project itself is saved only after "Save All" is issued.
Backup Files -folder contains a folder with project name but the folder is empty.
Is there any way to save at least part of the project?

I realize this is an old question, but I think the following answer will be helpful to other folks looking for this information.
VC Express saves temporary projects at C:\Documents and Settings*UserName*\Local Settings\Application Data\Temporary Projects.
You can turn off this behavior by checking: Tools > Options > Check "Show all settings" > Projects and Solutions > General > Check "Save new projects when created"

Why doesn't InstallShield Limited Edition remove AppDataFolder during uninstall?

I have successfully created an ISLE setup for my C# WPF app. The app needs to create XML files on the user's hard drive.
These are placed in the AppDataFolder and everything works great in my testing.
However when I test the uninstall it leaves the AppDataFolder behind.
I googled on this and there seems to be scripting capabilities in the full edition but I do not want the full edition just to have my app's AppDataFolder removed on uninstall.
I would imagine that many apps need to create and read/write to an AppDataFolder so it only stands to reason that uninstall would remove these.
I have added the folder structure that my app creates dynamically to the Install Shield, "Application Files" under the [AppDataFolder] section of the Destination Computer treeview. This shows the identical folder structure that my app creates successfully on the users hard drive.
So is it me or is it ISLE?
Thanks!!!

how to change the default user name in Visual C++ Express Edition?

I have started to use Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition and I notice that when one makes a project it appears something like this (in the folder's projects):
myFirstProgram.vcproj.Little-PC.Little.user
I would like to change the part where it appears my user name, is there any part inside the Visual C++ IDE where I can do that? I have been looking around, but found nothing at all.
Thanks
This is VS project user options file, so it is linked with the user account under which the project was opened. Seems you cannot change this. This file stores per-user debugging settings for the project.
Real source code project settings are in myFirstProgram.vcproj.

Visual Studio extension configuration location

I have this extension installed in VS2012, but it crashes VS when I try to open it (View > Other Windows > Mindscape File Explorer)
Is there a standard location in the registry or elsewhere where VS extensions store settings? I had set the home folder of the extension to a sym link that no longer exists and I think I might be the cause of the issue. I want to try and reset the extension settings.
I've uninstalled VS, wiped some entries from the registry, removed VS appdata folders etc, nothing worked so far.
I have found settings for the extension in an xml file named as user.config
under [user_home]\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\DefaultDomain_Url_(....)\10.0.(....)\
There is no standard, no. It's typically written under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio, but extensions can and do put things in other places.

Visual Studio 2012 Web Publish keeps overwriting existing files with same version

Just installed VS2012 and run across a strange behavior by the one click publish feature.
I'm publishing via FTP and everything works fine except it seems that VS insists on overwriting some files over and over even though nothing's changed.
In VS2010 clicking the "publish" button over and over just runs through the steps and finishes in a few seconds, in VS2012 it takes about two minutes as it keeps copying a 5mb dll and some other stuff too.
P.S the "delete all existing files prior to publish" is off
It's an absolute pain. I've resorted to keeping the solution open in VS2010 alongside the VS2012 and using VS2010 to publish, it's annoying, but it's faster...
Unfortunately there's no option for only changed files in VS 2012. Not sure why they took it out, other than maybe too many people complained that VS wasn't synching properly when their FTP servers were the problem. FTP servers are notorious for not giving back correct file info.
This is real too slow on large amount of files.
My best experience is to remove unused folders not containing assemblies (scripts, css, etc...) this way <ExcludeFoldersFromDeployment>Content;Scripts;Views</ExcludeFoldersFromDeployment>
.
Publish these files straight when you change them . Otherwise publish assemblies from profile .

Subsonic 3 templates in VS 2010 Beta 2

I am trying to setup Subsonic ActiveRecord in a web application in Visual Studio 2010 beta 2. In any scenario I get the same error:
Warning 1 The path 'D:\Work\Project\tt\SQLServer.ttinclude' must be either local to this computer or part of your trusted zone.
Everything works just fine on the same machine with VS 2008.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is it supposed to work with VS 2010 and .net 4.0 or I should stick with vs 2008 for the time beeing?
Ok, figured out one solution. I'm sure there could be others out there. I got around this issue by opening VS.NET 2010 and selecting 'Tools | Extenstion Manager' and clicking on the "Online Gallery" option. I selected the Tangible T4 Template Editor and installed the plugin/extension. If you don't see the extension then try sorting by highest rated or perform a search for it.
I closed VS and re-opened the tt file after closing it and voila! No more compile errors ;)
HTH
I had this exact same error "must be either local to this computer or part of your trusted zone", I did get it to work without adding anything to the Trusted Zone, the only thing I did was remove the "language" setting in the SQLServer.ttinclude file, and then edit the files a little (add a space, remove it, save etc.) not sure if this was enough to convince it to build properly the next time I did "Run Custom Tool" on each of the T4 files, but it worked, phew!
I recently hit this on a new Windows 7 (64 bit) install. Once you download the archive, right click on the file and select Unblock before you extract it and all is well. Note that this applies to the VS 2010 release as well.
Add the network share to Trusted sites. First uncheck the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.
