In a Java EE web application, I need to read data from barcode scanner(connected to the user's machine - client side),display the data in a textbos and send the code back to the server.I think I understood how to do it.
Is it possible to detect whether the scanner is connected/turned on and if not, display a warning in the web page that the scanner is not connected? (using some activex controls or any other method)
When I did this I simply used a textfield to capture the input from the scanner.
Why do you need to detect the scanner?

I decided to use the Housez theme as it advertises as super easy and flexible to use. I am not a web designer but have managed to get my site up and running. www.islandestates.net The problem I have is that there is no search option for the properties on a mobile device? The desktop version works well but how do I get a search box onto the mobile version?
The support from Housez is non existent, I have submitted a request to favetheme but they never reply.
Any help would be aprreciated.

I am automating the hololense application using perception simulation. In one of the scenario, I need to perform click action on the specific objects based on the name. So, Is it possible to read the text of the selected objects ? (Note: I have selected the objects using right hand /light hand move and object is selected with distinguished color )
It seems that you want to build test automation for your app or file explorer base on the Hololens2 emulator. And what your requirement is making it automatically tap an object with a matching name in the emulator.
If so, the emulator does not support the feature which recognizing text or direct returning data from the application memory. However, you can provide more information about your business request and submit a feature request via feedback hub on new feature request to be considered in future releases of HoloLens2 emulator.
For how to post feedback request, you can follow this doc: Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app.
Out of the field of HoloLens app development, you can code your own desktop program to capture the view in the emulator window, and then use OCR technology to recognize the character in the screen. Finally, customize your input to the simulator according to the result. However, this is not a simple way.
I'm new to Windows development, and am looking for assistance on where to get started for a particular project.
In short, I want to create a windowed application that allows a user to send keyboard and mouse inputs to another application, by interacting with various UI controls via touch. Essentially a custom on-screen keyboard/touchpad that can be used for sending keyboard-shortcuts to other applications.
There are two applications in Windows 10 that perform exactly the way I would want my new app to - the On-Screen Keyboard and Touchpad:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4337906/windows-10-open-the-on-screen-touchpad
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10762/windows-use-on-screen-keyboard
At the most basic level, I want to define my own interface (or allow the end user to define their own), and use the same code that the onscreen keyboard/touchpad are using for handling touch events and injecting inputs into the system.
I'm uncertain at what level I would need to start to get the functionality I need - UWP? WPF? C++?
If anyone has any insight into how the on-screen utilities were built, I think that would give me an excellent head start.
I'm an absolute newbie to Xamarin world. I'm working on a web application where a user completes a long form (say some 100+ fields) and then submits the form which will write the information to a database. One of the requirement is user should be able to load the form, resume his work even when he is Offline( No internet connection). I have used HTML5 Application cache, Local Storage in Html5, KnockOut.JS, Java script so that for every 2 seconds all the user form information is saved to Local Storage of the browser. But lately, I noticed with few users that the forms are getting deleted sometimes due to an iOS update. Also I don't want to rely on browsers cookie/cache to store this information.
I want to find out what my options are with Xamarin. Can I use a component like 'UIWebview' in the Xamarin app to launch my web application and then access the file system of iOS of that Xamarin app from the browser launched ?
Sure you can!
One launch image plus one screen with UIWebView is what you need for your task. You can handle UIWebView's event to save and load it's state.
Good news is that such app could be small enought to build it using free (Starter) version of platform.
I need to develop a browser app for use on a kiosk touchscreen -> no physical keyboard.
I would like to use Sencha-Touch.
The browser would be running on windows or linux/ununtu.
How can users input text?
I am not tied to sencha touch. I can use another framework (query mobile, etc...) if it offers such a feature.
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but it's a jQuery Virtual Keyboard:
http://mottie.github.com/Keyboard/ (Demo)
https://github.com/Mottie/Keyboard
I have never heard of such a feature, and Sencha Touch definitely does not include it. However, it would not take much to introduce that functionality into the framework.
You would need to:
design and create your virtual keyboard. This would be a simple component with a HTML template which had buttons for each of the keys. On each key press, you would fire an event.
in all places you need the keyboard (for example, fields), you would listen to the tap event and then trigger the virtual keyboard. You would then just update the value of the field depending on what the user types.
