I think, Microsoft uses claim based authentication for trial version of SharePoint online by default but it might be possible to use Form Based Authentication in Dedicated O365.
I need to test or write application to authenticate users for SharePoint online which may have claim based or form based authentication.
so Is there any way to create SharePoint online site that uses form based authentication? Or Is there any SharePoint online test site for this?
I have one more question:
In SharePoint online, I have invited one external(hotmail) user.
I wanted to know details steps on how the external user is authenticated?

I'm wondering how to achieve this using REST API in power automate.
With REST API, you cannot check user permission directly, alternate is to use effectiveBasePermissions for different masks. Blog here.
And for Power Automate, I am not sure if you can carry further steps mentioned in the blog.

The workaround I can think of will be checking if the user is in a SharePoint group. You can get all users in a SharePoint group via REST API, and check if the user is inside of it.
I want to design an application to sync user information between local system and CRM online. I found we can't create user in CRM online through APIs directly as CRM on-premise. System said we only can add user through office 365 admin portal. But I have no idea about how to use office 365 APIs to create CRM online user. Did you guys encounter the situation before? Ok, let me answer my question. Right now if we want to operate Dynamics CRM Online User or License information, we need to operate Active Directory Graph Service associated with CRM Online. This Service is a web api based service. I was wondering if is it possible to retrieve Office 365 directory information (i.e. security group membership) from SharePoint online programmatically (for example through a workflow custom action)?

I have been looking for information about this matter but I could not find anything so I guess there is no way to do this.
In our case there is an active directory synchronized with office 365. So we will use a powershell script to read data from AD and update a sharepoint list every day.
Then we will be able to use this data from custom code (like a workflow custom action).
I have somewhat of an odd question (for me, at least).
We have some private information a department would like to place on our SharePoint farm. The problem is, this is very sensitive information, and law demands that we have a 'two-stage' login process to secure the data.
Currently, it is housed using a system that:
A) you have to login to our network (windows logon screen)
B) you have to login to the application.
Our SharePoint farm has integrated authentication enabled. Meaning, once you login to your computer in the morning, you never have to login to sharepoint as it already knows your credentials.
This is a problem for us. Can we enable some sort of custom Sharepoint login?
Will this require a new web app for the site? A new site collection only perhaps?

What you are looking for is called forms based authentication. Sharepoint 2010 uses claims based authentication and one of the providers you can configure is forms based. Meaning they provide a user name and password.
Here is a tutorial with the steps to do, it is a relatively straight forward process. just follow all the steps.

Sharepoint does not come with any kind of registration pages. You have to build them yourself or use a third party tool.
